Dr. Brandon Bakka (He/They) is a DBER-E Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He received his B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His dissertation work focused on understanding the experiences and pathways of LGBTQ+ engineering students at both the graduate and undergraduate level. At UNL, Brandon is studying how engineering faculty convey visuo-spatial information through language and gestures in the Civil Engineering classroom. Brandon’s research is driven by their desire to make engineering accessible to all students.
